Parenting is not something one does on a part-time basis. Once you have stepped into the position are in for the long-haul. My husband and I raised two awesome children. One of my favorite passages in the Scriptures reveals God’s heart and mind about the awesome privilege parents have to guide and fashion our children into responsible adults can be found in Psalms 127:3-5:
“As arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them; they shall not be ashamed, but shall speak with the enemies in the gate.”
God desires that our children be trained for success, and He called parents to do it! He wants us to prepare them like a skilled arrowsmith fashions an arrow. Our families and children were created to win! This is what He had in mind from the get-go; and he already made a plan for us to walk a whole and victorious family life.
For some reading this, you may be saying, “Well, my parents were not there for me!”, but God took notice of you before the foundation of the world, and He put somebody in your way who nurtured you – took interest in you, and mentored you. Somebody aimed you towards your destiny! Whether it was through your parents; your auntie; a grandparent; or by another – somebody pointed you in the right direction and you came to know God and stepped into your destiny.
As parents, God has given us the authority to direct our children and we hold in our hands a mighty weapon so powerful – if directed correctly. We are ARMED and DANGEROUS with arrows in our hands! Just picture it. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of this generation! MIGHTY WEAPONS! So, fight for them; fight for their destiny! Aim them towards God’s word! Steer them to the Master Planner of their lives.
While society aims to redefine the definition of the family, it is important that a stand be taken in favor of our families and children.
Like mighty warriors — you are ARMED and DANGEROUS with mighty arrows.
